Teal & Woodduck Early Season

A duck harvested in Hmosassa

Early Teal & Woodduck season ends today. The Wooducks were plentiful but we did struggle with the Teal, only shooting a 1/2 dozen or so. While I’d like to blame Hurricane Irma and the unusually high water for the lack of Teal in the Florida marshes, at the end of the day I just think it was too damn hot for the migratory birds. I scouted over 15 lakes including the St. Johns River and Merritt Island with little to know results. Several hunters did managed to get a few nice limits but it just wasn’t in our cards this time around. However, with the duck population up and the amount of birds in the rest of the states I firmly believe we will have an excellent season come November.
